Musi studied art especially drawing and painting, at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Lima, Peru and also at L’Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris. She had her first show of drawings and illustrations at Gallerie Suzanne de Connich in Paris in 1967.

Her husband Bernarr has been making jewelry since 1966 in California and New Mexico. He worked with Hopi Silversmith, Preston Mononge in Santa Fe in 1969 creating silver castings.

Musi’s daughter, Vanessa Mellet has apprenticed with her parents since her early childhood and now creates her own designs in a similar spirit. Musi and family have been working together for 25 years, first in Peru and Brazil and for the last 15 years here in the Santa Cruz creating original jewelry in silver, gold and copper. They use a large variety of techniques, most recent of which is enameling.

From 1980-1983 they did gallery shows in Lima at the Galeria Ivonne Briceno and at the Galeria Equus. In the United States Musi and her family have done many shows, including the 1998 and 1999 Open Studios in Santa Cruz. They have shown in many crafts fairs including KPFA Holiday Crafts Fair, Union St. Fair and the Celebration of Craftswomen in San Francisco (Musi and Vanessa), also the Live Oak Parks Craft Fair, the Oregon Country Fair near Eugene and the Contemporary Crafts Market in Santa Monica and San Francisco.
